ABOUT THE PROJECT

The AR Project is a collaboration between sociologist Terrell Winder and Juju Bae. This site is a repository of key data from the project and profiles of select participants who wanted to share how their Africana Religion practices impacted their daily lives. The AR profiles coupled with over 100 interviews with Black Millennial and Gen Z practitioners of Africana Religions highlights how Black Americans are practicing traditional and diasporic Africana religions in contemporary life. The data from this project were collected between May 2022 to June 2023.

Below are the hometowns of interviewees of the Africana Religions Project.
